My love for photography started at the ripe young age of 13. I began taking pictures in high school and assisted many professional photographers in the Birmingham area. After attending The Art Institiute of Ft. Lauderdale and the The Art Institute of Atlanta for photography I worked in Atlanta for several more years as a commercial catalog photographer. Upon returning to Birmingham in my mid 20s I worked as an assistant to a local wedding photographer and also worked for a portrait studio shooting weddings and portraits and running a black and white lab. I opened my own black and white photo lab and studio business in 1987. My love for photography is still going strong. I have continued my education throughout the years always trying to stay of the edge of technology.
I pride myself on being an artist, not just a photographer. My goal is not only to capture your expressions but to show emotion in my photographs.
I shoot pictures two different ways. My black and white pictures are shot on film and professionally printed by me in my own lab. I also paint my black and whites with oils. My color sessions are shot on a professional quality digital camera and can be printed several different ways including color, black and white, sepia and hand painted. I also offer gallery wraps, canvas prints and a variety of cards. I can handle any of your photographic needs.
I can take your photograph or shoot your wedding in a location of your choice. Some of my favorite locations around the Birmingham area are The Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Aldridge Gardens, Arlington Antebellum Home or for a more industrial look, Morris Ave or Sloss Furnace. For a more traditional look I can photograph you and your family right in my own studio. I frequently travel across the Southeast including the Gulf Coast of Florida and Alabama .
